The editor of Bandook, a Bengaluru-based tabloid was arrested by the Mahalakshmi Layout Police Station officials in connection with a murder case last week.
Venkatesh was arrested after a 25-year-old autorickshaw driver was allegedly killed by a gang on November 15 near the Mahalakshmi Layout metro station. He has been accused of aiding and abetting the murder.
â€śVenkatesh was arrested last week on charges of aiding and abetting the murder of the auto driver. We are still investigating the case. He (Venkatesh) has denied the charge,â€ť Inspector Rohith of the Mahalakshmi Layout Police Station told TNM without divulging further details.
His arrest comes days after Ravi Belagere, the editor of Bengaluru-based tabloid Hi Bangalore was arrested in connection with another crime. On December 8, Ravi was arrested for allegedly hiring hitmen to kill his colleague Sunil Heggaravahalli for reportedly having an affair with his second wife Yashomati.
Following four days in police custody, he was sent to 12 days of judicial custody.
However, on December 13, Ravi was granted interim bail by a court owing to ill health.
The Hi Bangalore editor was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit of Jayadeva Hospital, where his blood sugar level is being monitored.

Ravi Belagere was arrested after two men, Tahir Hussain and Shashidhar Ramachadra Mundewadi, were picked up by the police in an arms case.
Tahir Hussain alias Anoop Gowda was nabbed for allegedly trying to sell an illegal country-made pistol. During interrogation, Hussain had said that he was selling it to sharpshooter Shashidhar Mundewadi.
Following this, Shashidhar was arrested and he reportedly confessed that he and one Viju Badiger were hired by Ravi to kill Sunil. The CCB has launched a manhunt for Viju, but is yet to trace him.
