Looks like it’s the season of biopics in Karnataka and politicians seem to be taking the lead. The latest in line is former chief minister of Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa. It may be recalled that a biopic on HD Kumaraswamy went on the floors recently with an official pooja in Bengaluru. Action King Arjun Sarja has been roped in to play the former CM in the biopic, which has been titled Bhoomiputra.
According to sources close to this biopic, BS Yeddyurappa is the true Bhoomiputra as he has been fighting for the welfare of the farmers for more than four decades now. Likely to be titled either as Negilayogi BSY or Bhoomiputrana Janaka BSY, the film will depict what the former Chief Minister had done for the farmers’ welfare in the state. Apparently, the film will be bankrolled by the Bharatiya Janata Party workers. Details about who would be roped in to play the seasoned politician will be revealed soon. Journalist and politician Tejaswini Ramesh is reported to have said that the biopic will reveal what really happened during the 20-month tenure of the Chief Minister.
BS Yeddyurappa was born on February 27, 1943 in a village called Bookanakere in K.R. Pet taluk in Mandya district. He was the 19th Chief Minister of Karnataka and is now the president of Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party. Apart from having served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa is the Member of Parliament for Shimoga from May 16, 2016. He has also served as the Deputy CM in the HD Kumaraswamy ministry and was the Member of the Legislative Assembly from 1983–1999 and 2004 – 2014.
With two biopics going on the floors almost around the same time, there could be a clash at the box office!
