Bhootham Annapoorna alias Padmakka was in Thullur mandal for some medical treatment when she was arrested

After 25 years of being underground, a woman Maoist deputy commander, who carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head, was arrested by the police in Andhra's Amaravati region on Tuesday.

According to a report in the Times of India, Bhootham Annapoorna alias Padmakka alias Jyoti was picked up by the anti-naxal squad (ANS) in Thullur mandal where she was reported to have come to her sister's house for some medical treatment.

The report adds:

Padmakka, a native of Julakal village in Piduguralla mandal, has been inactive for some time on health grounds.Wife of Dandakaranya special zone committee senior commander Nune Narasimha Reddy alias Ganganna, Padmakka worked in different capacities. She was attracted to the People's War movement way back in 1991.

The police added that she is now under investigation.
