Nadiya Moidu, one of the fashionable and versatile heroines of the 80s, staged a comeback a few years ago. Since then she has been bagging some of the best projects and the latest to fall in her kitty happens to be the Mohanlal starrer Neerali.

Interestingly, the gorgeous actor made her debut in the Malayalam film industry with Nokketha Doorathu Kannum Nattu, in which Mohanlal was her co-star. The film was a major hit and catapulted her to star status. Now once again, both stars are collaborating after a long gap of 34 years.

On bagging the role in Neerali, Nadiya told the Times of India, “The biggest attractions, for me, were working with Lalettan and shooting in Mumbai, as I have never shot for any of my movies in my hometown. Also, getting to work with director Ajoy Varma and cinematographer Santosh Thundiyil, who are based in Mumbai, I thought that would be a different experience.”

Stating that the offer to star in Neerali came to her all of a sudden and she couldn’t say no to it, Nadiya recalled that she was on her way to Chennai when she got a call from the Neerali team and that they were in a hurry to finalise the casting. Eventually, she got to hear the script and gave her go ahead.

Neerali, directed by Ajoy Varma, stars Mohanlal in the lead role with Parvatii Nair also included in the star cast. Others in supporting roles include Suraj Venjaramoodu, Saikumar, Dileesh Pothan and Nassar.

The film, written by Sajju Thomas, is bankrolled by Santhosh T Kuruvilla, John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikadan under the banner Moonshot Entertainment. Stephen Devassy is composing the tunes for this venture with Santosh Thundiyil cranking the camera and director Ajoy Varma editing it. The shooting for the movie is currently in progress in Mumbai and the team is planning to release it on May 4 this year.
