Popular actor-cum-director-cum-scriptwriter Balachandra Menon on Tuesday chose to take a walk down memory lane on Facebook, where he reminisced about his long association with his contemporary and fellow actor and comedian Jagathy Sreekumar.

Jagathy’s acting career was tragically cut short in a car accident in March 2012 that left him hospitalized for over a year. He is presently confined to a wheelchair and is yet to recover fully from his injuries.

Their long association -Balachandra wrote- began right from their college days, when both secretaries of the Arts Club in their respective colleges. Right from that time, “Don’t worry, bro…everything will turn out right…we will make it right!” has always been Jagathy’s motto in life, Balachandra says.

He goes on to share his happiness and gratitude on the rare fortune of being able to direct Jagathy’s father, Jagathy and Jagathy’s son  -three generations of the same family- in front of the camera.

“I hold a record related to Jagathy Sreekumar that not many are aware of. Jagathy’s father, scriptwriter and actor Shri Jagathy NK Achari, has enacted a small part in my movie ‘Nanguledh Kochu Doctor’. I have also directed Jagathy’s son Raj Kumar in my movie ‘April 19’….Jagathy himself has acted in several movies I have directed including ‘Aniyatha Valakkal’, ‘Ishtamannu Paksheh’, ‘Karyam Nisaaram’ and ‘Ammayaaneh Sathyam’ among others,” he writes.

When asked by the media on whom he would love to act with, Balchandran recalls his response to the same: “Jagathy among the male actors and Kalpana among the female actors.”

Balachandra also embedded a video recorded by Jagathy’s son when he had dropped in on a visit to Jagathy’s home before he was to proceed to America for further treatment.
