Actor Dileep is receiving privileged treatment and special food inside Aluva Sub Jail, a prisoner housed near the actor’s cell has claimed.

Sanoop, who spent two days in a cell near Dileep’s, told Asianet News that Dileep spends most of his day sitting in various officers’ chambers, and only returns to his cell at night.

“Everyone knows about this, but they will not say it out loud as the officers will beat them up. Dileep is served special food prepared for the officers. He does not eat the food meant for the prisoners,” Sanoop alleged.

“Dileep is taken out after everyone else is inside their cell, and can’t be found in his cell or outside for hours. He uses the officers’ bathroom and is served their food. He has got full freedom. Only at night, he sleeps in his cell,” he added.

Sanoop also said that CCTV footage from within the prison can prove these claims.

Sanoop was in lodged in the Aluva Sub Jail for two days in relation to a theft that occurred 10 years ago.

This is not the first time that allegations have emerged of Dileep receiving special treatment in the Sub Jail. Reports had appeared in the last week of July raising similar allegations of Dileep being served the food eaten by the prison officials.

According to those reports, it had also been alleged that a fellow inmate had been deputed by officials to perform tasks for Dileep such as washing his clothes and utensils, cleaning the toilet and so on. Following these reports, DGP (Prisons) Sreelekha R had denied the allegations of special treatment for the actor.

She had said that she had no idea how such allegations came to be made, and that she had not found any evidence of special facilities being given to Dileep.

The allegations regarding Dileep follow similar allegations made with regard to Mohammed Nisham, the beedi baron convicted of killing a security guard by ramming him with his Hummer. It was alleged that Nisham had been housed in the special cell meant for prisoners with mental ailments to exempt him from hard labour. It was also alleged that he had been allotted a helper.

Recently similar allegations were also made with regard to the Parappana Agrahara jail, where AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala is being housed and allegedly received special treatment.
