Actor Dileep, accused in the actor abduction and sexual assault case, was permitted by the Kerala High Court on Tuesday to visit Dubai for a period of four days.

The court granted Dileep’s applications despite the objections raised by the prosecution, that Dileep was influencing witnesses pertaining to the case. The prosecution stated that one of the witnesses had already changed his statement, and that two others were also being influenced.

Although the Court acknowledged that the charge of influencing witnesses is of a serious nature, it permitted Dileep to go to Dubai, on the condition that he submit the address of the place he will be residing at there, and that he surrender his passport within six days. It, however, added that the police should report to the Magistrate Court if Dileep has indeed violated the conditions of his bail by influencing witnesses.

Currently out on bail, Dileep submitted an application to the court on Friday stating that he wished to visit Dubai as he and his partners were launching a restaurant, reported The Times of India. He therefore asked for the release of his passport, which he had submitted to the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Angamaly as one of the conditions for securing bail.

Dileep said that the restaurant was meant to have been inaugurated at the time of his arrest, but had been postponed till now. The date of the inauguration of the restaurant has tentatively been fixed for November 28, according to his petition.

The application filed by Dileep said, “It is essential for the petitioner to be present at the time of inauguration, especially for the business promotion of his hotel. Petitioner wishes to be in Dubai in connection with the opening of the restaurant ‘De Puttu’ for a period of four days to one week.”

Dileep was arrested on July 10 this year on charges of conspiring in the abduction and sexual assault of a prominent Malayalam actor. The actor was kidnapped in February by a group of men, and sexually assaulted in a moving car. The Kerala police had alleged that Dileep had promised a hefty reward to the men for kidnapping the actor and recording visuals of her sexual assault.

In October, the actor was granted bail after spending 85 days in prison. Earlier this month, Dileep sent a 12-page letter to the State Home Secretary seeking a CBI probe into the issue. In the letter, he contended that he had been framed.
