The News Minute | March 16, 2015 | 6.15 pm ISTLeader of the opposition VS Achutanandan thinks that finance minister KM Mani and others should be book under provisions for “unnatural sex” for being kissed on the cheek after he presented the budget last Friday. The Former Kerala chief minister said on Monday that Mani and other MLAs should be booked under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which has been used to criminalise homosexual sex.Pleased that Mani had managed to present the budget in the face of an angry opposition, an euphoric MLA kissed the man. After two unsuccessful attempts to enter the Assembly through the main door, Mani managed the feat through the backdoor with a microphone attached to his shirt. Without trying to make his way to his own seat, he began to present the budget from the seat of another MLA. Jubilant after Mani successfully managed to present the budget, despite the other drama that unfolded, some MLAs kissed Mani on the cheek. This prompted Achutanandan to demand that cases be booked against these MLAs. While opposing the chief minister Oommen Chandy’s call to suspend LDF MLAs, Achutanandan retorted that the MLAs who kissed Mani should be booked under Section 377 for “homosexual sexual acts”. He dared them to lodge complaints against these MLAs given that the state government had booked cases against some of those who participated in the recent "Kiss of Love" event.Read- In pictures and video: Why five MLAs were suspended from Kerala assemblyTNM take: Veteran CPI (M) leader Achutanandan made an emotional appeal to the Chief Minister asking him not to suspend the five opposition MLAs and criticised Mani for his alleged excesses in the Assembly. However, in a bid to criticise Mani, Achutanandan made the petty demand for cases to be booked against Mani and others under Section 377, using the flawed argument that the government should do so as they had booked cases against some of the participants of the "Kiss of Love" event. This is even more perverse given that his party had supported the Kiss of Love event initially, and later backtracked on its position.Tweet  Follow @thenewsminute
