In a tragic incident, a family of five—a couple and their three daughters, was found dead in Telangana's Kandugula village of Karimnagar district. It is suspected that the couple killed their daughters before killing themselves.

The incident came to light on Monday morning at around 7.30am when neighbours saw the bodies and alerted the police.

Initial investigations by the police suggest that the couple killed their daughters before hanging themselves after they were accused of carrying out ‘black magic’ by their close relatives.

Local police identified the man as 36-year-old Gangireddula Komaraiah and the woman as 34-year-old Komuramma. The three children were identified as Yellamma (10), Komuru (8) and Anjali (4).

Speaking to The News Minute, VV Ramana Murty, Circle Inspector of Huzurabad said, the couple had gone to Komuramma’s maternal home in Dulakatta village in the same district in the first week of July when Komuramma’s niece (daughter of her late brother and his wife Pedda Rajamma) fell ill.

It was during their stay that Komuramma’s brother Chinabathula Komuraiah, his wife Chinnabattula Rajamma and Pedda Rajamma accused the couple of performing ‘black magic’ and held them responsible for the child’s sickness.

Komuramma’s family returned to their residence on Saturday.

Police suspect that the couple was assaulted by the trio and are on the lookout for them.

A case of abetment to suicide (IPC Section 306) has been registered against the trio on the basis of a complaint by Komuramma’s father Yellaiah. A case of murder (IPC Section 302) has been registered against the deceased couple also, for killing their children.
