The News Minute| November 25, 2014| 6.54 pm ISTThe Aam Aadmi Party’s push for the Delhi Assembly Elections saw them boosting the hashtag #MufflerMan, it trending on Twitter. With social media being an important component of election strategies these days, the hashtag has been trending for close to a week now. However, in this video on youtube created by an AAP sympathizer, he alleges that the BJP is using fake accounts and “bots” from their IT cell to hijack the trend. This is not the first time the AAP has brought the issue to light. On October 5, Yogendra Yadav, one of the AAP’s national executive members posted the following from his twitter account while accusing the BJP of hiring “trolls”. The accounts mentioned in the picture have supposedly shared the same posts the thereby registering an identical tweet count. A glimpse into how BJP trolls are managed. Here are 6 profiles with same 10,000 Tweets! pic.twitter.com/3AjKMBJ2aq”— Yogendra Yadav (@AapYogendra) October 5, 2014 What is interesting on social media is that a tweet which is most popular or is retweeted multiple times appears on the top of your search when you look for a hashtag. Identical tweets from different accounts will cause this. Here are some of the still existing accounts mentioned in the video.https://twitter.com/lashkarEmediahttps://twitter.com/Natkhattchhorihttps://twitter.com/biharibhumiharA quick browsing through their posts and you get the feeling that they were solely created to automate posting on twitter.
