The Adugodi police have registered an FIR against Abdul Munaf, a scrap dealer, after his seven-year-old domestic help, who is said to have been locked up in the bathroom for around 12 hours everyday, was recently rescued, states a report by Bangalore Mirror

The report states, that the police on September 25 rescued a girl from a city locality after being tipped by an anonymous caller. The girl, who was locked in a bathroom at the time of rescue, is said to have looked 'famished' and 'exhausted'. The girl later told the police that she had been working in Munaf's house from the past six months, and that she used to do menial chores in the house. Munaf  who left for work every morning, locked up the girl in the bathroom, for almost 12 hours, till he returned. They did not leave her any food as well.

The girl has been sent to a juvenile home in Nimhan's Shishu Vihar. Munaf has been charged under sections of the Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act, IPC 374 (unlawful compulsory labour), IPC 344 (wrongful confinement for 10 or more days) and the Juvenile Justice Act, further adds the report.
