An earthquake was felt in many parts of north India including Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Kashmir and Jaipur on Tuesday evening. Parts of Pakistan including Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad also reportedly felt the quake.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the earthquake, which was 6.3 on the Richter scale, occurred at 4.31 pm on the border between India and Pakistan. However, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was of 5.8 magnitude.

The epicentre of the earthquake was reportedly near the India-Pakistan border. According to USGS, it was one kilometre southeast of Mirpur, which is the largest city in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

There were reports of injuries in in Mirpur and surrounding areas, as well as damage to property.

People from India and Pakistan posted videos of the tremors they felt on social media.
