The News Minute | October 30, 2014 | 08:49 am IST  5,000 schools in Karnataka have applied to change their medium of instruction from Kannada to English, states a report by Bangalore Mirror.  The government has been receiving a huge influx of such requests as the the last date for application for conversion of medium is October 31.  This comes after the Supreme Court quashed the state government's order which imposed Kannada as the medium of instruction in all primary schools, stating that 'it violated fundamental rights', adds the report.
