The News Minute | December 16, 2014 | 11:40 am ISTA 13 year boy was allegedly chained in the Chandrayanagutta police station in Hyderabad after the boy was caught after the theft of a mobile phone. A picture of the boy chained was clicked by a journalist who happened to present in the station at the time.According to a report in the Deccan Chronicle, this act by the police has triggered off waves among child right activists who feel that the minor should have been taken to the juvenile office, not the police station.Police said that the boy was handed over to the police after he stole a mobile phone from a woman in a neighborhood and was caught by the neighbours. The boy however claimed that he hadn’t stolen the phone and someone from his locality had given it to him a few days ago.South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana could not be reached for comment but last known reports suggest that an inquiry had been initiated on this issue and a report on the incident would be submitted soon.
