Five times Vijay appeared in dual role on-screen

Azhagiya Thamizh Magan (2007) – This psychological thriller by director Bharathan is the first film in which Vijay appeared in dual roles - both as the protagonist (Guru) and the antagonist (Prasad).
While Guru has an ability to see visions from the future, Prasad is a greedy womaniser who tries to marry Guru’s fiancée.
Villu (2009) – Prabhu Deva directorial Villu is an action drama in which Vijay plays both father (Major Saravanan) and son (Pugazh).

..and his half-vedhalam son (Marudheeran). The clash between humans and vedhalams in a fantasy world is the story plot.
Bigil (2019) - This sports drama film directed by Atlee is about a gangster father (Rayappan) in North Madras and his football-loving son (Michael aka Bigil).
The plot revolves around the lives of Rayappan and Bigil, and how Bigil becomes the coach of the Tamil Nadu women's team.
Mersal (2017) – This action thriller directed by Atlee stars Vijay in three roles for the first time. He appears as the father (Vetrimaaran) and his twin sons Dr Maaran and Vetri who are separated at birth.
While Dr Maaran is a world-renowned doctor who treats patients for Rs 5, Vetri is a magician.
The story is about how they meet and avenge their father’s death.
