HuffingtonPost India has gone live.

Huffington Post, an American news website partnering with the Times of India have made a foray in the Indian English media market after its launch on Monday.

The Indian edition will have an editorial team of twelve head by Sruthijith KK, previously editor of Quartz.

In his blog , Sruthijith wrote, "As more and more Indians embrace the Internet and connected mobile devices to consume news and express themselves, we will be hard at work to make sure they find HuffPost India compelling, and that they use our blog platform to tell their own stories, as millions of readers do every day in 14 countries in 9 languages. "

Arianna Huffington, chairman and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group wrote about her experience with India and the decision for the company to enter the Indian market.

In her article, she wrote “India has always held a deeply personal significance to me. When I was 17, I studied comparative religion at Calcutta's Visva-Bharati University, founded by the writer and artist Rabindranath Tagore. In between studies, I traveled across the country, falling in love with it -- a love affair that has continued to this day. ….. Beyond its 1.24 billion people, India is vast in every way -- its history, its colors, its food, its spiritual traditions, the stories of its people, its contradictions, and in terms of the challenges it faces. Telling those many stories, and creating a platform for Indians to tell their stories themselves, is one of the reasons I'm so excited about HuffPost India.
