Often not given their due recognition, they form the support system of many a households; their work crucial to the smooth functioning of our everyday lives. However, they also tend to have uncertain futures, often due to no knowledge or access to financial support systems. Now you can extend your help to your domestic help and Gift A Pension to them. An initiative by the non-profit organisation Micro Pension Foundation, Gift A Pension strives to provide integral social security solution to domestic helps. 'Old age security is a challenging problem for India at large, and the concept of retirement and pension evades most of the working population', states Gift A Pension's Facebook Page. Gift A Pension's website also says that there are around 40 crore informal sector workers in India with no formal social security cover. Gift a Pension, which strives towards empowering India's domestic helps, 'is a web based platform that enables employers to enroll their domestic help for pension benefits. Through this platform, the domestic help will get a pension scheme with a Rs.1000 per year co-contribution from the Government of India and a simple, secure and convenient payment solution.'
