This is certainly not the first time that someone is covering Major Lazer's “Cold Water” featuring Justin Beiber and MØ. Ever since the hit song released in July, there have been plenty of renditions doing the rounds online.
But this mashup featuring the song, by a brother-sister duo from Malappuram, Kerala, is turning out to be a favourite for many. Hanna and Hanan Yasir, mixed “Cold Water” with the hit Malayalam song “Nenjodu Cherthu”, and posted the video on their YouTube channel on October 4.
While Hanan takes over Justin Beiber's lines from “Cold Water”, Hanna provides the mesmerising vocals for the Malayalam song. Watch it here:
According to her Facebook bio, Hanna is a medical student, pursuing her degree from Sree Gokulam Medical College and Research Foundation.
Hanan has a YouTube channel by the name of Hanan Swaggie and has covered other popular songs like Justin Beiber's "Love Yourself", John Legend's "All of me" and One Direction's "One Thing" among others.
Released in 2012 in the Malayalam music album "Yuvvh", "Nenjodu Cherthu" was originally sung by Aalap Raju and the video featured Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim. Watch the original video here:
