Kerala Youth Commission chairperson and firebrand Left leader Chintha Jerome is now facing the heat on social media over a matrimonial advertisement that appeared in her name on a Christian matrimonial website a couple of days ago.

Jerome and her family have however categorically denied putting out any such advertisement on the website. This is not the first time Left leaders have borne the brunt for the purported clash between their Communist ideology and personal faith.

Since the said advertisement was put up on a Christian matrimonial site owned and managed by the Catholic Church in Kerala, with the would-be-bride’s caste and religion specifically mentioned, gleeful trolls pointed out that it was obvious she was on the lookout for a Catholic groom.

Jerome is known for her fiery speeches on secularism, and many had a blast trolling her on social media for such blatant display of double standards.

Speaking to The News Minute, Jerome reiterated that her secular ideologies are applicable to her personal life too:

“My secular ideologies are not just restricted to my speeches alone. I am not interested in giving matrimonial advertisements and I will never do that. I am not bothered about the religion of the person I will get married to!”

That DYFI (CPI(M) youth wing) had earlier launched a secular matrimonial website to encourage inter-caste, inter-religion weddings too drew its share of criticism, as Jerome had in the past held many prominent posts within both the SFI (CPI(M) students wing) and DYFI.

Jerome says she is planning to legally move against this campaign to deliberately tarnish her secular credentials.
