The Telangana unit of the Congress was clearly not pleased with Minister KT Rama Rao's comment that their party had to be 'buried', as several leaders hit back on Monday.

KTR had made the comments while speaking at an event in Warangal on Saturday,  and he said that the time had come to “bury” the Congress.

“KTR is a young politician and should ensure that his statements suit his age. KTR should know that Congress is aparty which gave political birth to his father K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is now chief minister of Telangana,” AICC secretary and former MP Hanumanth Rao was quoted as saying.

"It’s not proper for KCR’s family to bite the hand that fed them," the senior Congress leader added.

Along with Rao, Rajya Sabha member G Renuka Chowdary and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Shabbir Ali, were also present at the party's state headquarters in Nampally.

Shabbir Ali said that the TRS government in the state and the Modi-led BJP government at the Centre, had failed the people, who were waiting to teach them a lesson in the next election, for not implementing their promises.

“Bangaru Telangana has been achieved only for the family of KCR and not for commoners. The State government completely failed to keep a tight rein on the sellers of spurious seeds. It has given permissions to the same companies, which were earlier involved in the distribution of fake seeds, to sell seeds this year also. What does it mean?” Renuka Chowdary told reporters

Last week, while addressing a public meeting at KDC grounds in Hanamkonda, KTR had lashed out at Congress leaders and said that they were creating unnecessary hue and cry, and obstructing the development of the state.

“We are not answerable to these leaders; we are answerable only to the people. The decimation of Congress should start from Warangal,” he was quoted as saying.
