Directors Shankar, Gautham Menon, Thangar Bachan among others lauded Dhanush for coming out with the powerful family entertainer Power Pandi. The National Award winning actor made his directorial debut with this film and it went on to become a huge success at the box office while capturing the attention of celebs as well. Power Pandi starred Raj Kiran and Revathi in the lead roles with television anchor DD making a cameo appearance.

Shankar, tweeting about the film, posted, “Power Pandy-A simple film with cute touchng and movng moments Congrts 2 Dhanush n team. Nice performnce by Rajkiran Revathy Prasanna n othrs.” Gautham Menon also lauded the efforts of Dhanush in making the film and said that he is eagerly waiting for the sequel to know what happens between Power Pandi and Poonthendral. Thangar Bachan, known for making family-oriented films, said that he is happy to see a film like Power Pandi, loaded with family values, after a long time.

The film’s box office collection in Chennai alone, during its second week, is Rs. 53.86 lakhs. And the overall collections at the Chennai box office alone were Rs. 1.44 crores, state sources in the trade. Power Pandi, which marked the directorial debut of Dhanush, was also produced by him under his home banner Wunderbar Films. Released on April 14, the film had music by Sean Rolden with Velraj cranking the camera and GK Prasanna editing it.

While Raj Kiran and Revathy played the central characters in the film, it also had Prasanna, Chaya Singh, Vidyu Lekha Raman, Balaji Mohan and others in the star cast. Several celebs have made cameo appearances in the movie including Dhanush, Madonna Sebastian, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Robo Shankar, and Dhivyadharshini. With the summer vacations on, Power Pandi’s collections are expected to soar higher.
