The FIR registered in the murder of RSS worker E Rajesh in Thiruvananthapuram reveals that it was a political murder.

Earlier, there were reports that Rajesh was killed over a personal grudge.

But the FIR says, “When the clashes happened between DYFI (youth wing of CPI (M)) and BJP in Panachakkunnu colony, Rajesh, the RSS Karyavahak of Kallampally helped BJP workers. So, the accused number 1 to 11 assembled together illegally with the motive of disturbing the peaceful atmosphere……”

Though the FIR doesn’t mention which political outfit each of the accused belonged to, it clearly mentions that the murder was a result of longstanding BJP-DYFI clashes which had happened earlier.

The FIR also mentions 11 accused in the case out of which, six were directly involved in the assault and murder, while five others were involved in the conspiracy.

“Accused number 1 to 6 approached him with dangerous weapons. While the second accused held his shirt collar, the first accused attacked his left leg using a machete. Later, all the six accused, dragged Rajesh to the road and hacked him continuously,” says the FIR.

Rajesh, 34, was killed by the group which reached the spot, on bikes and autorickshaws.

His left hand was chopped off from the elbow and his body was dumped in an empty plot nearby. He also had several injury marks on his face.

Eight persons were arrested in relation with the case.

Earlier, city Police Commissioner G Sparjan Kumar had told TNM that the motive behind the murder was not exclusively political and there were personal reasons behind it. But the FIR has not mentioned anything about the personal reasons.
