The next smartphone launched in India is the Sony Xperia XZs, a successor to the Xperia XZ. Sony has not brought it many drastic changes from the XZ in the XZs, but the company is trying to create a lot of excitement over the possibilities with the camera in its latest offering. What are these possibilities? Read on.

First the Size, Specs and Features

Sony Xperia XZs has a 5.2inch display and the phone’s dimensions are 146mmx72mmx8.1mm; it weighs 161gms and the device will be sold in three distinct colours; Ice Blue, Black and Warm Silver. The display itself is full HD, borrowing from Sony’s Bravia TV’s Triluminous technology. The phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, in tandem with the Adreno 510 GPU. The RAM is 4GB and the inbuilt storage is 64GB. There is a provision for a microSD slot also which can enable the storage to be expanded up to 256GB. The company’s dedicated website, however, mentions that the phone’s memory will be limited to 32GB for single SIM instruments and 64GB will be the standard capacity for the dual SIM phones. The OS will be Android 7.0 Nougat.

In terms of the safety and security, Sony claims everything possible has been done. In the case of the 2900mAh battery, the manufacturer claims that this is their “cleverest battery yet”. The battery is supported by some features which help the phone user with intelligent use and prevent it from completely draining out. Similarly, the dust and water resistant features are backed by the IP 65/68 rating received by the Sony Xperia XZs. Sony phones are already known for their sound quality and their latest offering will measure up to the same standards.

Camera, the Highlight of the Phone

But, as the title suggests, it is the proprietary 19MP Motion Eye rear camera that Sony wants to emphasise as the phone’s uniqueness. Again, here the company has applied its own ‘Cyber-Shot’ technology that the Sony digital cameras come with. This technology allows slow motion videos to be captured and played back. The camera is capable of capturing images at speeds of 960fps and offers clarity and perfection. The camera also has a Predictive Capture feature that works in this fashion: as you prepare to click a photograph, the camera begins to store the images and after you clicked the image you wanted, you feel that you clicked a few milliseconds late, you can rewind and find 4 previous snaps you missed and you can pick from them as well. Even otherwise, the camera has the capability to be ready before you shoot images. The front camera is also a huge 13MP one.

The Sony Xperia XZs is being made available in India from April 11 and the indicative price is Rs.46,990/- as against the listed price (MRP) of Rs.51,990/-. Besides, those who pre-order till April 4 can get Sony’s wireless speakers for free (MRP Rs.4, 990/-).
