One of the most expensive films to be made in Sandalwood, Kurukshetra is the hottest topic of discussion among film buffs. Based on the epic, Mahabharata, the film has Darshan playing the role of Duryodhana and several other prominent Kannada actors in pivotal roles.

While the team is keeping the star cast a secret and intends to reveal it once things are finalised, the buzz is that Regina Cassandra has been signed up to play an important role in the film. It has been reported by unconfirmed sources that she might play Banumathi, the wife of Duryodhana. Interestingly, it will be a comeback to Sandalwood for Regina who was last seen in the Kannada film Sooryakanthi in which she shared the screen space with Chethan.

Directed by Naganna, who had wielded the megaphone for the Darshan starrer Krantiveera Sangolli Rayana, which turned out to be a big hit, the film also has another leading star from the Kannada film industry – V Ravichandran – playing a crucial role. If sources are right, he will be seen as Lord Krishna in the film.

It was announced a few days ago that V Harikrishna will be scoring music for the movie. Confirming the news, the director was reported by the Indian Express as saying, “This is a story and these are characters we have grown up with. We have been told about them and watched them on TV. These are legends... Krishna, Duryodhana, Arjuna, Karna Bheema, so I am extremely happy to be creating music for such a film. This is also a milestone film for Darshan, and this adds to my excitement... this is, in all, a landmark film.”

Apart from Regina Cassandra, the film will also have top Kannada heroine Hari Priya in a pivotal role. Being Darshan’s landmark 50th film, the director is leaving no stone unturned to get the best out of this project.
