It was reported that director PV Shekar has roped in Ragini Dwivedi to play the main protagonist in his upcoming film. And now, we have news that the film’s title has been finalised and it will be called The Terrorist. The title was chosen as the film is based on the 2008 serial blasts that rocked Bengaluru. In this movie, Ragini plays Reshma, a strong woman who fights against terrorism while trying to find a non-violent solution to it.

The director did face a lot of issues with the title but eventually got to register it and the pre-production work has now begun. According to PC Shekhar, the team was initially skeptical about the English title but found it to be apt considering the subject at hand. Then, they had the tedious task of negotiating with another filmmaker who had a similar title which eventually went in their favour.

Ragini Dwivedi made her acting debut with the Kannada movie Veera Madakari in 2009 which won her the Suvarna Film Award for Best Debut Actress. She then went on to debut in the Malayalam film industry with the Mohanlal starrer Kandahar and her Tamil debut was with Ariyaan.

PC Shekar’s directorial debut was with the Tamil movie Kadhale En Kadhale in 2005. Five years later, he went on to direct the Kannada film Nayaka. He has also directed films such as Romeo, Chaddi Dosth, Arjuna, Style King, and Raaga.

On The Terrorism, the director had told the Times of India, “There are incidents that we read or hear about almost every day, which is the basis of the story of our film. And while I have been inspired by real events, their aftermath and how they impact people involved, the story is a fictional account. We begin shooting in early November and are looking at finishing it in one 25 to 30-day schedule.”
