At a time when the LDF government is facing severe criticism over the conduct of SSLC and Plus Two examinations, an official probe has now found that five of the questions in the Plus One Geography examination were ‘leaked’ as they were taken from the model question paper prepared by Kerala School Teachers Association, an organisation affiliated to the CPI (M).

Higher Secondary education director MS Jaya who probed the allegations concluded that the teacher who prepared the final question paper for the examination and KSTA member who prepared the model question paper took the same five questions from the question bank available on the directorate's website, reports Times of India. The report, however, didn't recommend action against anybody in connection with the preparation of the question paper. The repetition of questions paper for the SSLC Mathematics examination had triggered a storm and later the examination was cancelled.

Minister for education C Raveendranath had suspended the higher secondary teacher from service based on a report that found the teacher G Sujith Kumar and examination board chairman KG Vasu responsible for the repetition of several questions in SSLC mathematics examination. Vasu, a former Assistant Education Officer had already retired from service. Therefore, no departmental action could be initiated against him. A meeting chaired by the education minister on Saturday cancelled the SSLC mathematics examination and decided to conduct a re-examination on March 30.

Opposition Ramesh Chennithala on Tuesday alleged that the government, by suspending Sujithkumar, has only tried to save Vasu, who was affiliated to KSTA. The opposition leader also demanded judicial probe into the question paper leak and will stage a protest in front of the Secretariat from Wednesday for the same.
