Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday gave a two-day ultimatum to CPI (M) veteran leader VS Achuthanandan to withdraw the allegations made against him.

The CM was addressing the media during Meet-the-Press programme in Kozhikode.

Chandy said that he would approach the Election Commission seeking action against VS for making “blatantly false charges” against him and other UDF ministers, if VS does not apologise or withdraw his remarks within two days.

The New Indian Express reported the CM as saying, “VS is spreading blatant lies throughout his campaigns. He has said that there were 31 cases pending against me in the court and 136 corruption cases against 18 UDF ministers. He should make clear which are the cases pending against me and my colleagues.”

When asked to give a reply to VS’s queries, the CM said that the official documents will answer all questions posed by VS.

A few days back, VS, through a Facebook post, had said that Chandy only had questions and had no answers to offer.
