In the latest standoff with CPI (M) veteran leader VS Achuthanandan, Kerala CM Oommen Chandy has taken to Facebook, asking VS to clarify his stand on the SNC Lavalin case and on CPI(M) Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan.

Coming down heavily on VS’s decision to campaign in Pinarayi Vijayan’s Dharamadom constituency, the CM told VS that he was giving mixed signals to people about his stand on corruption and other related matters.

Taking a dig at VS’ s campaign speech in Dharmadom, in which he talked about the alleged corruption cases against UDF ministers, CM Chandy asked VS about why he opted to not talk about Pinarayi Vijayan’s alleged involvement in SNC-Lavalin corruption case.

The CM also reminded the CPI (M) heavyweight about the various instances in the past when the leader had spoken out against Pinarayi’s involvement in the case.

Further, he criticised VS for sharing the stage with former Power Minister R Balakrishna Pillai, against whom the leader has fought multiple times.

Chandy also questioned VS’s decision of not visiting T P Chandrasekharan’s wife and son on his way to Dharmadom. VS had openly alleged the state leadership’s (Pinarayi Vijayan was the then party secretary) role behind the murder of T P Chandrasekharan. The CM termed VS’s visit to Dharmadom as a disrespect to T P Chandrasekharan.

Adding to this, he questioned VS’s decision to campaign for Pinarayi, despite the controversial statement Pinarayi had made on the eve of VS’s campaign. You can read Pinarayi’s statement against VS here.

At the end of the post, he asked VS if his campaign at Dharmadom was just a political gimmick to win the elections.
