Bus services from Kochi to Kottayam were disrupted for a few hours on Sunday after a fight between a CITU worker and a bus driver turned ugly.
A moving bus went over a puddle and caused mud water to be splashed on a CITU (CPI-M trade union wing) worker at Vytilla mobility hub of Kochi.
In retaliation, the worker filled a bottle with urine and threw it at the bus driver.
The incident happened at around 7.15 am on Sunday following an argument between the driver of a private bus, Jithin, and a CITU worker, Dileep.
The bus named St Johns was running on the Ernakulam – Kottayam route and while moving to a fuel pump to fill diesel before starting the day’s trip, splashed mud water from a puddle.
The splashed mud water fell over Dileep who was standing on the roadside.
Angered over this, Dileep filled urine in a plastic bottle and threw it at Jithin, when the bus reached the Vytilla hub after filling fuel, The Times of India reports.
The incident led to a huge clash later between bus employees and CITU workers. Bus employees called for a strike by cancelling all trips to Kottayam.
The strike was called off only after the police filed a case against Dileep and arrested him.
Dileep was charged for creating public nuisance and was later released on bail.
