Ever since director Rohit Shetty said that he would directing the remake of the Jr NTR starrer hit flick Temper, which was released on February 13, 2015, reports began doing rounds that he would start off with the remake soon.

However, the director has clarified that it is true he would go on to direct the film but he wouldn’t be remaking it.

Stating that he would just take in the crux of the film and a few episodes from the original, Rohit Shetty revealed that he would be building his own script around it. Reports suggest that Rohit Shetty is working on the script to suit the sensibilities of the Bollywood audiences which means it wouldn’t be an exact remake.

The director said that Ranveer Singh has been roped in to play the male lead in the film and he is yet to sign on the heroine. Rohit Shetty also quashed rumours that he is in talks with Kajal Aggarwal, who had done the role in the original, to play the female lead stating that nothing has been finalised yet.

Rohit Shetty made his debut with the 2003 director Zameen that had Ajay Devgn playing the male lead. He then went on to direct films such as Golmaal and Golmaal Returns, Sunday, Singham, Bol Bachchan, Singham Returns and Dilwale.

The Tollywood film, Temper is an action entertainer that was written by noted writer Vakkantham Vamsi and directed by Puri Jagannadh.

The film had NT Rama Rao Jr. and Kajal Aggarwal playing the lead pair with Posani Krishna Murali and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.

Produced by Bandla Ganesh under the banner Parameswara Art Productions on a budget of Rs. 35 crore, the film went on to collect Rs. 74.3 crore at the box office. It may be mentioned here that there were talks about director Puri Jagannadh planning a sequel for this film but the plans were put in cold storage later.
