The new investors will play a role as mentors and advisors to the startup as it prepares to expand its offerings in vernacular languages.

Gurugram-based Josh Talks, a startup that organizes conferences similar to TED Talks, has received a fresh bout of funding from Freshworks’ Girish Mathrubootham and HCL’s Apoorva Chamaria. The other angel investor to have joined the two is Rohit Chanana, Head, Strategy & Finance, Hero Corporation. There are other angels too reported to have participated in the funding; the amount invested, however, remains undisclosed.

Josh Talks has been in the business for over 2 years now and has already held conferences in over 25 cities across India and about 65,000 persons are reported to have attended these, in addition to 25 million+ views on the net.

The company uses simple story-telling techniques to drive home the point across to young minds and the videos have contents that inspire them to positive mindset and action in their lives. And their videos are now available on a range of social media and other resources online; these include, YouTube, Facebook, JIO Chat, Dekkho, YuppTv, Uber and Scoopwhoop so on.

They have also entered the iTunes’ Podcast list and is rated 30 on the list related to the Indian content there. The contents cover diverse subjects like Sports, Arts, Activism and of course, Entrepreneurship.   

The purpose of these angel investors coming on board could be multi-dimensional in nature. They will play a role as mentors and advisors in the business, even as Josh Talks prepares to expand its offerings in vernacular languages. The languages chosen in the first phase are Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi and Bhojpuri and the startup will try to expand the geographical reach also with their conferences.

Josh Talks has also embarked on an ambitious mission of encouraging around 100,000 youngsters to become independent entrepreneurs. For this, is has entered into a partnership with Facebook, with a campaign #StartAb.

The new investors have their own impressive track records in their respective fields and are quite excited at the opportunity to be involved in adding value to a noble venture like Josh Talks.
