Sir M Visvesvaraya was one of the most prominent engineers and exemplary statesmen that the country has ever produced.
Born on September 15, 1861, in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district, the Bharat Ratna recipient is known for designing one of the best flood management systems of his time.
So it’s only fit tribute to the man, counted among the last century’s foremost nation-builders, that his birth anniversary is commemorated as Engineers' Day in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Friday, to pay tribute to Visvesvaraya and appreciate the role that engineers play in the development of the nation.
I salute all engineers on #EngineersDay & appreciate their paramount role in the development of our nation.

But it’s 2017. So how could there be Engineers’ Day without a few snarky tweets and memes?
No wonder #EngineersDay is trending on top and not #HappyEngineersDay. Because Engineers and Happy shouldn't be used together.

I am tensed whether I should celebrate this day or question myself for taking engineering
Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems. #EngineersDay
