The Telangana Excise Authorities seem to be on a serious mission to curtail drug movement in the state. After busting a massive drug racket, they arrested a Dutch national, Mike Cunningham on Tuesday night.
Authorities also seized cocaine from his possession.
Prohibition & Excise Department's Director, Enforcement, Akun Sabharwal termed the arrest as an important one and said that they would recover key information pertaining to drug circulation from the 33 year old.
Talking to media, Akun said that it was the accused’s fourth visit to India, and he is being considered as a key link in the supply of drugs from European countries.
Cunningham is the 20th accused to be arrested in the case, which caused quite a sensation as some Telugu film industry personalities allegedly have links with the accused.
Meanwhile, Tollywood actress Charmee Kaur was questioned by SIT officials on Wednesday for her alleged links with Calvin Mascrenhas, said to be the kingpin of the racket. She was the seventh Tollywood celebrity to be questioned in the case.
The investigators have found that the peddlers sold drugs to students of several colleges and schools in Hyderabad, some Tollywood celebrities and even techies.
Earlier, Puttkar Ronson Joseph alias Ronnie, manager of leading actress Kajal Aggarwal was also arrested on Monday for his involvement in the drugs scandal.
According to reports, authorities have recovered over 3,000 units of LSD, 105 grams of MDMA, 45 grams of cocaine and other narcotic and psychotropic substance from arrested accused so far.
