Two devotees In Karnataka's Udupi district were injured on Friday after a drone, deployed for photographing a religious ceremony, fell on them.

The incident occurred on Car Street near Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt at around 3pm during the Krishna Leelotsava celebrations.

According to the Udupi SP Sanjeev Patil, one of the persons sustained grievous injuries on his face and neck while the other sustained minor injuries.

They were rushed to a nearby private hospital by people who were part of the ceremony.

The man who sustained minor injuries is from Doddanakudde and is currently out of danger, while the other is still undergoing treatment.

"None of the injured persons have come forward and filed a complaint yet. We can register a complaint and make further inquiries only if one of them files an FIR," the SP added.

The SP said that the drone was deployed by a private agency to capture aerial shots of the celebration.

"The private agency was hired to capture shots of the Vittala Pindi, where Lord Krishna's childhood was being enacted. The drone ran out of battery and fell on the two people. These days, drones are being used extensively for photography and the agency must have been careful about logistics," SP Sanjeev Patil said.
