Kadabagere Srinivas Murthy alias Dhaba Seena took three bullets during the shooting at Yelahanka on February 3 and had been in a coma.
The Dasanapura APMC President had woken up from his coma on February 9, and on Thursday, gave a statement to the executive magistrate, in the presence of doctors, at Columbia Asia hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.
He was discharged on Friday and on Saturday, he gave a statement to the media, implicating BJP MLA Vishwanath for the shooting.
“I have made it clear to everyone that Vishwanath was singularly responsible for the attack on me. I do not have any other enemies besides Vishwanath and his aides,” Srinivas Murthy told media persons.
Dhaba Seena was shot on February 3 by bike-borne assailants near Kogilu Cross in Yelahanka.
According to the initial probe based on the CCTV footage, the assailants had followed Seena from his Basaveshwaranagar residence and had shot at him while he was returning from the APMC meeting.
Besides MLA Vishwanath, Seena also implicated Don Satish, Boon Babu and Rajendra for the shooting. He claimed that they are Vishwanath’s aides and alleged that Vishwanth had contracted the killing to Satish and Babu.
“The two assailants, who were on the bike, first attacked me with rods while I was returning from the meeting in Raitha Sante. They later opened fire,” Dhaba Seena said.
A few days after the shooting, the police had detained 20 gangsters and had, at the time, questioned Boon Babu. Soon after, media reports had suggested that the police had questioned MLA Vishwanath on February 6, in connection with the shooting.
The APMC President also had links with Bengaluru’s underworld.
He used to own a dhaba near Magadi Road during the 80s, which was the hangout for gangsters in the city, and this is how he got the name Dhaba Seena.
He became involved with petty real estate fixtures initially. After the death of rowdy Bettanagere Seena, Srinivas Murthy gained influence in the real estate business on the outskirts of the city.
He later joined politics and was a close aide of MLA Vishwanath during his tenure in the BJP. Dhaba Seena later joined the Congress and their friendship was strained ever since, media reports suggest.
The police are yet to receive the copy of the statement made by Dhaba Seena, after which they will take further action.
