IT and networking major Cisco and its technology solutions partner Paradigm Mtuity will be organizing a Hackathon with T-Hub to find two smart city solutions. The applications for this Hackathon have been extended till May 30.
The Hackathon, slated to happen on June 16 and 17 at T-Hub will allow startups to come up with innovative solutions for the challenges posed by Cisco and Mtuity along with the data, domain expertise provided by them. The Hackathon will also have training sessions for startups to work on Cisco’s City Digital Platform (CDP), Mtuity’s Atlantis analytical tool, in addition to hardware (sensors), equipments, and Unified Computing Servers (UCS) offered by both companies.
Two challenges have been given to startups for the hackathon. First, to model an air pollutant concentration at the side of a road with traffic congestion. The idea is for startups to create a predictive application that will provide a guideline on which road and area to pick for a walk given traffic congestion on the road at various times of the day and varying weather conditions.
The second challenge is Weather Forecasting Modelling. Cisco and Mtuity have gathered weather data for over 350 cities for last ten years. The idea here is for startups to develop a model to forecast weather for future dates based on historical data patterns.
T-Hub has already received 30 pitches for the challenges and has further extended the deadline to invite more innovative solutions. Startups with the most innovative solutions will get an opportunity to work with Cisco and Mtuity and develop a product around the solution.
The top two startups that win the Hackathon will be awarded Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively.
The government of Telangana signed an MoU with Cisco Systems, Paradigm Mtuity, and T-Hub to foster innovation in the IoT (Internet of Things) space and smart cities in April last year. A few months later, Telangana government partnered with Cisco Systems and Paradigm Mtuity in July 2016 to plan ‘Smart City Hyderabad’, with the pilot project including implementation of smart WiFi, smart parking, parking enforcement, smart lighting, smart transport, smart kiosks, remote expert governance services, a citizen services portal and a citizen app.
Apart from the Hackathon, T-Hub will also be launching a corporate innovation program along with US-based United Technologies Corporation, a company that works in the area of elevators, controls, security and aerospace systems.
