In a recognition that not many in the local gaming scenario can boast of, a game app developed by a Chennai-based company featuring a Rajinikanth character, recently made it to Apple Market’s Top 90.

Love Handle Developers (LHD), founded and headed by Kirupa Shankar, primarily developed and first launched Twisty Board on September 1.

Though it failed to make an impact initially, its fortunes changed a month later when the arcade game was relaunched by the Canada-based GalacticThumb.

The game climbed up the charts a week later and even earned a review from the US App Store editors.

Kirupa, who is the CEO of LHD, says that after getting featured in Apple’s Top 90, Twisty Store went on to get featured on Apple Store's main page along with Mario in Japan.

"The app ranked among top five of Apple’s highlighted arcade games and featured in 154 countries," Kirupa says proudly.

Twisty Board is “a fun, action-packed game, where the gamer has to dodge and escape from missiles and avoid obstacles”.

Like in a typical arcade game, the player needs to swerve around hurdles, deviate using zigzags to defend oneself, and play to one’s own advantage. The game has five unique worlds, super power-up and the recently introduced Halloween theme.

One of the 30 characters featured in the game is Rajinikanth.

An ardent admirer of the Superstar, Kirupa says "all my games are influenced by Rajinikanth, and they all feature him in a certain style".

According to the entrepreneur, Twisty Board has been downloaded over 9,00,000 times and got 2.7 million engagements in just a month's time.

The numbers, the company hopes will only rise now, as an Android version is all set to be launched in November.

Since its inception in 2008, LHD has developed more than 3,500 games, both for the mobile and the web.
