A Bengaluru techie was arrested by the Chikkamagalur Police on Thursday after his former girlfriend filed a complaint alleging that he had uploaded a sex tape of her on a porn website.

According to the Chikkamagalur SP, the accused, Hemanth, is a 29-year-old techie employed at the Manyata Tech Park in Bengaluru.

The girl, who is from Chikkamagalur, was studying in a private engineering college in the city and was in a live-in relationship with Hemanth.

The couple had separated three months ago due to certain differences. 

“Hemanth had recorded a video of the girl while they were intimate two years ago. The girl has alleged that before they separated, he began threatening her and forced her to go back to Chikkamagaluru and also change her college,” the SP said.

Hemanth then uploaded the video on a porn site two weeks ago. When the girl found out, she immediately filed a complaint with the Chikkamagaluru police and Hemanth was nabbed from his office. He has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody, the SP said.

The SP also said that they tried to reconcile the couple but the girl refused.

Bengaluru city’s Cyber Crime CID sleuth, on February 9, cracked down a case of online revenge and arrested a 44-year-old man for allegedly posting a photo of a woman on a classified portal and advertising her as an escort.

The suspect, Gangappa Nanjegowda, a technical manager at a garment designing firm in BTM Layout, had registered in many marriage portals.

He would allegedly lure divorcees, widows and women above the age of 35 years by seeking to marry them. Gangappa, who is a native of Mandy is married and has a child, posed as a single man.

When the woman refused is sexual advance, he allegedly posted her photos on the escort site.
