A fan of actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, walked into a charity show in Hyderabad on Thursday, and purchased a ticket for the film Gautamiputra Satakarni, at the cost of Rs 1 lakh.
Innamuri Gopichand, received the ticket from film actor Nara Rohit, Balakrishna's relative. The amount of Rs 1,00,100 will be donated to Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, of which the actor is the chairman of the board of trustees.
27-year-old Gopichand was reported to be the owner of a restaurant in Guntur.
“I saved that money over one year so that I could give it for a cause through Balakrishna's movie. I chose not to spend money unnecessarily on parties etc., with the intention of saving it for charity. I was waiting for the movie to be released so that I could donate it," he told TOI.
Meanwhile, Balakrishna, along with female lead of the movie Shriya, director Krish and other members of the unit watched the premiere show at Prasad Imax theatre in Hyderabad.
Balakrishna said the film was being appreciated in Telugu states as well as abroad.
He was all praise for Krish and the producer for completing the historical movie in just 79 days.
He was confident that Gautamiputra Sathakarni will go down in the film history as one of the landmark movies. He said he was feeling proud to do a role which his father and legendary actor NT Rama Rao wanted to play.
Gautamiputra Sathakarni was a ruler of the Satavahana Empire in the present day Deccan region.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is the brother-in-law of Balakrishna, watched the movie in Vijayawada later on Thursday.
The Telangana government has exempted the movie from entertainment tax, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had announced last week when Balakrishna met him.
