Oscar winning music director AR Rahman is busy with high budget projects – the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0, which is the sequel to Endhiran and Sundar C’s Sangamithra. Despite his busy schedule, the music director has hopped on board a not-so-big project titled Mom. According to reports, AR Rahman decided to take up the film after it was brought to his notice that Sri Devi would be playing the female lead it. A self-confessed Sri Devi fan, AR Rahman said that the mere fact that she is playing the title role in the movie forced him to take up the film. Incidentally, Mom happens to be Sri Devi’s 150th film.

Slated to release on July 7, the film will be out at the theatres in four languages. Ravi Udyawar is wielding the megaphone with Boney Kapoor, Sunil Manchanda, Naresh Agarwal, Mukesh Talreja and Gautam Jain producing it under the banners MAD Films and Third Eye Productions.

Starring Sri Devi in the title role, the film has Akshaye Khanna, Abhimanyu Singh, Sajal Ali, Vikas Verma, Sushant Singh, Adnan Siddiqui and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the star cast. Anay Goswami has cranked the camera for the film with Monisha A. Baldwa taking charge at the editing table.

Mom, a thriller, was shot extensively in Delhi and Georgia before the shooting was wrapped up in Bangkok recently. The film is into the post-production stage with the release date set at July 7. The film will be released in Hindi along with its dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Sridevi made her acting debut as a child artiste in 1967 with the Tamil film Muruga and has worked with almost all leading actors including MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Ajith and Vijay.
