A 32-year-old JD (S) worker was stabbed to death on Saturday night allegedly by Congress workers in Mandya village of Karnataka.

A native of Murukanahalli, Harish’s death comes after three other JD (S) workers were killed the same week over alleged political rivalry.

According to reports, 28-year-old Yogesh and 25-year-old Rakshith, both believed to be Congress workers, repeatedly stabbed Harish on Saturday afternoon at Mysuru-KR Pet Main Road.

The attackers have since been absconding and police have started investigation in the case. 

Another JD (S) worker Krishnagowda, who accompanied Harish when the latter was attacked, also sustained injuries. Police have recorded Krishnagowda's statements.

On Sunday, tension prevailed in Murukanahalli, when hundreds of villagers including JD (S) workers went about setting fire to the attackers’ houses. They reportedly set ablaze three vehicles. Police personnel who reached the spot to control the agitation, also faced the ire, with the villagers throwing chilli powder on Nagamangala DySP Janardhan. Police then shifted Harish’s body to KR hospital in Mysuru, amidst protests by the party workers.

According to The New Indian Express, JD(S) MP C S Puttaraju has called for a bandh in Mandya on January 4, to protest against the murders of the party men. 

Earlier, JD (S) workers BK Kumar, Muthuraj and Nandeesh were also murdered allegedly by Congress workers. Kumar was attacked by three bike-borne persons who were reportedly armed with sharp weapons.
