Chennai police arrested two men after seizing 40 red sanders logs in a raid from a house in Vyasarpadi on Monday.
The red sander logs weigh up to 450 kg. Speaking to The News Minute, Sunder, police inspector of Vyasarpadi station said, “On Monday, early morning the control room informed us about this house. We went and checked the house and found the red sanders logs. A man had bought it from Andhra Pradesh and was supposed to sell it to someone in Parry’s.”
The accused name is Ibrahim (37). “The accused told us that he does not know the man who sold these red sanders logs. Ibrahim was just told to go and wait in a particular place and he was given these logs. This is the first time he is doing this illegal business,” said Sunder.
Police also arrested Ibrahim’s friend, Palani, (30), who was also allegedly involved. The case has been transferred to the forest department for further investigation.
